Chapter 1 – Existence
Dexter returned home from school, sad, depressed and exhausted. He was in a real state. With a great deal of effort, he walked into the living room, heaving his backpack, which was about his body weight. It was surprising he had not toppled over. He dumped the bag next to the sofa, which his dad was sitting on, watching the football game. Dad towered high over Dexter, a giant compared to him. He hung his head, and walked past his dad, climbing onto the sofa, and settling, sitting by his Dad’s side. Dad continued to watch the game. “Ahem!” coughed Dexter “Hey son, I didn’t notice ya!” replied Dad. Dexter sighed, “Neither did I.”, before he looked up at the TV. All he could see though were several scattered around him, as his glasses were broken from an earlier fight. He took them off, but could only see nothing but a blur now. Dexter frowned. “Oh why the long face son?” asked Dad. Dexter gave a deep breath, before speaking. “Just some guys at school again, think it’s funny to push me around, like a football. Like a can on the ground.” Dad sat back and began to watch the game again, this conversation all too familiar to him. “Oh I’m sure they didn’t mean it son!” “What? There’s no way they couldn’t have meant it! You’d have to be stupid to…” then Dexter made a revelation, “You know, maybe they don’t. Upon evaluation, it’s entirely logical. Maybe, they just don’t see me. After all, I constantly feel like nobody even notices m…” “TOOOOOOOUCHDOWN!” Dad yelled, leaping around the room in excitement. Dexter felt like the room shook and boomed as his dad leapt from side to side in celebration, before he settled back down to watch the game again. Dexter looked up at dad, his heart felt quite it was being squeezed… before he collected himself, and hung his head. He sighed and walked for the stairs. Before he made his way into his room, he glanced towards Dee-dee’s closed door. He heard her giggle behind it, and it could do nothing but remind him of the oh so dreadful woe he would endure every weekend. He could hear them now.. “Its my turn Lee Lee!” “No Mee Mee, its mine!” “Quiet both of you!” Dee-dee shouted, “I’m the mummy tonight, you can be daddy” she said pointing to Mee Mee, “And you Lee Lee can be my good friend Emily round for a dinner party!” “But you were mummy last time” replied Lee Lee, with growing anger in her voice. “PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!”, a small figure in a diaper shouted, the three girls turned to him, “Can we just get this ridiculous procedure over and done with?” Dexter yelled, his arms on his sides. The three girls held their mouths, trying to resist laughing out loud, but they simple couldn’t. Dexter just look far too silly. Dexter gave a deep sigh, looking back up at the door, Dee-dee giggling behind. She was probably having the exact same flashback now. Dexter entered his room, and locked the door, with little enthusiasm, before he walked to his bookcase.
